‘Hidden world’ of marine life found beneath Antarctic ice

Scientists have found a “hidden world” that’s “teeming” with marine life 500 metres beneath the Antarctic ice.

The fascinating discovery was made by researchers from New Zealand in a suspected estuary beneath the ice a whole bunch of kilometres from the sting of the Ross Ice Shelf.

When the scientists drilled down into the ice the digital camera was all of a sudden swarmed by amphipods – a sort of animal from the identical household that features lobsters, crabs, and mites.
