Gekko (Michael Douglas) lays out his creed of enterprise ethics and easy methods to get forward in enterprise to Bud (Charlie Sheen).

“Greed is Good.” That is the credo of the aptly named Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), the antihero of Oliver Stone’s Wall Avenue. Gekko, a high-rolling company raider, is idolized by young-and-hungry dealer Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen). Inveigling himself into Gekko’s inside circle, Fox shortly learns to rape, homicide and bury his sense of ethics. Solely when Gekko’s wheeling and dealing causes a near-tragedy on a private stage does Fox “reform”-though his technique of destroying Gekko are each bit as underhanded as his earlier actions on the buying and selling flooring. Director Stone, who cowrote Wall Avenue with Stanley Weiser, has claimed that the movie was prompted by the callous remedy afforded his stockbroker father after 50 years within the enterprise; this can be why the movie’s most compelling scenes are these between Bud Fox and his airline mechanic father (performed by Charlie Sheen’s real-life dad Martin). Sarcastically, Wall Avenue was launched simply earlier than the October, 1987 inventory market crash.

  1. Gordon Gekko's (played by Michael Douglas) theory on the art of war is similar to the head coach who believes that games are won in practice, not on the field.

  2. They simply know things others don’t either through connections or superior analysis…most likely they know the ones making the decisions or are making the decisions themselves.

  3. Everybody says dont be like Gekko, you will go to jail. In real life Gekko becomes villionaire or head of the fed. Bad guys lose only on tv screens.

  4. I hate this movie with a passion. It's everything that lead to the America we know today. The movie that defined the next fifty years of the Republican party!.. I mean, even now, Matt Gaetz looks like Charlie sheen had a love child with Max Headroom.
