Miriam Margolyes has paid a heartfelt tribute to Robbie Coltrane as a ‘high quality actor’ who ‘towered over Scotland’ after the Scot’s dying on the age of 72.

The BAFTA award-winning actress, who starred alongside the icon Coltrane in her function as Professor Sprout within the Harry Potter movie sequence, took to BBC Radio 4 to pay her respects. Coltrane handed away at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Falkirk on Friday, October 14.

Within the candid interview this morning, the 81-year-old touched upon Coltrane’s dedication to the humanities, his potential to tackle a variation of roles from Danny McGlone in Tutti Frutti to ‘Fitz’ in Cracker, and his pure charisma.

  1. My grandparents lived not far from him his garden was rammed full of cars when I was a kid. Swear he was at least 10ft tall I always stood there just gasping at the sheer presence of him while he spoke to my grandfather about daily life etc. I will never forget the real life giant.
